Over the years, I've collaborated with filmmakers to create visually compelling narratives for countless award-winning commercials, feature films, and television projects, including concept designs for 4 James Bond opening title sequences (Casino Royal, Skyfall, Spectre, and No Time To Die) and receiving Emmy honors for my contribution to visual effects designs in Hallmark Entertainment's Dreamkeeper.

Concept Design

I’m completely in my element when I’m drawing concept designs. I love brainstorming sessions and problem-solving and previsualizing shots and scenes at the earliest stages. Sometimes a quick sketch on a napkin is all you need to convey an idea. Sometimes it’s a more fleshed-out drawing or an animatic. The “what if we” part is my favorite part of the process.

I could spend all day everyday creating characters. It’s something I’ve been doing since I was a kid getting in trouble for drawing on my desk. I’m always trying to create unique and memorable characters that resonate with audiences and contribute to story. I focus on capturing the personality and essence of each character and digging up a key feature that makes them stand out.

Development

Whether it's a period drama, sci-fi, or fantasy adventure, costumes and props are such a crucial part of world-building. I love diving deep into the materials, fabrics, and styles to help develop the perfect look and feel for the characters

Around The World In 80 Days - Director: Steve Barron - Costume Designer: Kate Carin

Working closely with VFX teams at companies like Glassworks, Framestore, MPC, and Psyop, and working as a Senior Creative at Mass Market VFX for a year in NY, where I oversaw projects for major clients like HBO and NBC, I have a strong understanding of the VFX pipeline and a good eye for visual storytelling. Creating concept art, storyboarding complex sequences, and collaborating with VFX artists feels like crafting spells.

Visual Effects Experience

Directing

I’ve directed and co-directed, with my brother Arran, on several small projects; music videos, fashion films, documentaries, ads, opening titles, and animatics, including animated sequences for Cosmos on FOX and an award-winning short film starring Keira Knightley, Tom Mison and Rupert Friend. Here is a reel of some of those projects.

Apps and Software

I’m Proficient in Procreate, Photoshop, Sketchup, Final Cut, Adobe Premier, and ProTools and I'm familiar with postproduction modeling and compositing tools and pipelines. I love learning new things (lately I've been dipping into Unreal Engine) and have a strong understanding of cinematic language and storytelling techniques from pre-production to post.

Album Art

I’m so stoked about the new album cover I’m working on right now, but it’s hush hush. So to tide you over, I'll show you my art work for Harm’s Way’s album, Common Suffering. Both the music and the cover art received some killer reviews, and you can dive deeper into the process in this interview with Heaviest Of Art Magazine. Hit me up for more album covers, yo!
